Beethoven's expansive Op.70 No.2 opens a programme of striking contrasts: Shostakovich's searing wartime Trio, a haunting Sarabande by Isidore Zebeljian, and Mendelssohn's turbulent, beloved D minor Trio to close. A beautifully balanced evening pairing the familiar with the unexpected, performed with real emotional range.
